Redshift by Autodesk expands the editorial universe for the designers and engineers who want to build a better and more sustainable world. Its far-reaching content explores future applications of architecture, construction, infrastructure and manufacturing technology. But it also ventures into areas that affect sustainability, like business and culture. When I queried the editor, I was delighted and just a little bit tremulous about taking on my first assignment.
A nod to Pride Month, the Diversity in Construction story allowed me to talk with people who lead the way toward equality in the workplace. The story also took me back to my own construction days, when engineers were men, clerks were women and harassment of all kinds was overlooked. The construction workforce has come a long way since then, and it still has a way to go for LGBT, gender and black, Asian and minority ethnicity inclusion.
